Our Programmes
-
This is Animal Law Focus’s flagship programme, designed to uncover and challenge systemic cruelty in industrial animal farming through institutional mechanisms. We carry out research and analyse public data—often obtained through Chile’s Transparency Act—to identify serious and repeated violations in farms and slaughterhouses. Based on this evidence, we engage with public bodies such as the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) to demand sanctions, request the closure of non-compliant facilities, and advocate for the adoption of binding protocols. We complement this with public campaigns and corporate engagement to increase pressure and visibility. This programme forms the backbone of our work and informs our legal and legislative strategies. This programme translates institutional findings into legal action, holding farms and slaughterhouses accountable for severe or repeated breaches of animal welfare standards. When regulatory action is insufficient or ineffective, we pursue formal legal complaints (querellas) and support judicial proceedings to ensure consequences for unlawful practices. Our aim is to create a meaningful deterrent, strengthen enforcement through precedent-setting cases, and raise the cost of cruelty. This programme focuses on the most egregious and well-documented cases identified through our monitoring and investigations.

This programme addresses legal loopholes and outdated frameworks that hinder animal protection efforts. When necessary, we advocate for new laws or reforms to ban cruel practices. We engage with legislators, conduct comparative legal research, build alliances, and mobilise public support to advance legal change. This programme complements our enforcement and litigation work, enabling us to push for systemic improvements that current regulations do not adequately cover.

This programme provides legal advice and strategic guidance to organisations and vegan initiatives working to promote diet change. We assist with launching and developing new organisations and vegan businesses, offering support on legal structure, incorporation, and operational setup. In addition to legal guidance, we provide accounting and tax support to help ensure financial sustainability and compliance. By strengthening both the legal and organisational foundations of our allies, we help build a more resilient and effective movement for animals.
